Family day

Yesterday I was in the city with DJ, Debra, Amanda and Josh (with Josh's family too) for a very special day. :) We had lunch at Krolls, which was very yummy. It was nice to be out of the house, but I did miss the girls very much! Baba and Dida watched them so I can have a day to enjoy. Then we went to Nordstom and Auntie Amanda bought the lil ladies their first Kiel's products... Can't wait to bathe them in their new body wash and soften their precious lips with baby lip balm! Ella and Presley are doing really good, we tried our Dr. Brown bottles and they seem to be feeding much better with them. No air appears to be getting through them and they have not been fussy like the last few days. So that makes me very happy! They had their first trip to the city to visit Aunt Amanda and Uncle Josh on Thursday. It was a nice visit! And they had their first road trip to see their Grandpa and Grandma in Indiana about 2 weeks ago. They were perfect little angels on the 1 1/2 hour trip. They are so loved...

more testing

The doctor's office called me yesterday about Ella's newborn screening test. Her thyroid level was abnormal so the doctor wants me to go back to the lab to get her re-tested with another blood test. They told me not to worry, but of course I am. I don't want any problems for Ella. I pray that the blood test shows NORMAL. Me and DJ are going today. Please God let her be ok.

Day the girls were supposed to be born

Today the girls were supposed to be born via c-section. But they arrived 6 weeks early. This morning they got baths, and I clipped their little finger nails for the first time. It went better than I thought. :) Cries are waiting for mommie now, time to go feed the little angels...

Bringing babies home 2-8-10

I was home on this Monday and decided to call the hospital to see how our little ladies were doing. They had to stay in the hospital after I was released because of their eating. They were premies, and had to have their eating monitored still. To my surprise I was told that the girls could come home! I was so exited! The first few days were so surreal because it was real. I am a mom! The first night feedings, they did so good! They are very good babies. They eat well, soil their diapers, and then sleep "like babies" after their feedings. We've been on a 3 hour schedule and they both wake at the same time pretty much. They were 3 weeks old yesterday, boy does time fly. They both lost their belly buttons already too! Presley last weighed 5lbs 11 oz and Ella 5lbs 1oz a week ago at their doctor appointment. I just love them so much and can't believe I am blessed with 2 beautiful baby girls!

Water broke 2-2-10

I was sleeping and woke up feeling leaking. I had just woken up about an hour ago to use the bathroom and felt annoyed that I may have to go again! Come to find out it was my water breaking. I hopped out of bed and was sure that's what was happening. It was 3;30 am and I was so relieved because someone was home. I would have been so scared if I was all alone. I went to tell my mom and she was in the shower so she was freaking out! I felt fine though, only had menstrual like cramps. I took a quick shower, packed a bag and my parents took me to the hospital. I called DJ as soon as we got in the truck to tell him he was going to be a dad. He was so exited and met me there right away. I was admitted when we got there. The nurse did a test to see if my water broke but it came back negative. I knew I was in labor though. After a few more times it finally showed blue! I was checked and was dilated at 3 and 100% effaced already. I started getting stronger contractions, they were happening every 2-3 minutes. I was checked again and dilated to 4/5. I was waiting for my epideral because the pain was getting pretty intense. The epideral was scary, but it didn't hurt at all. The only problem is that my left side didn't get the full affect. The doctor came back and gave me more of it. It finally worked better on that side. The epideral slowed the intensity of my contractions so by 12 noon I was given petosin in my IV. After a half hour I was fully dilated and and ready to have my babies. I was so nervous and exited! They were both head down so I was glad to be able to try to have natural child birth. They took me to the O.R. as a double set up was made for me just in case I had to have a c-section. I pushed 3 times and Presley's heart rate dropped. I was so sad, and felt disappointed, but they had to do a c-section for the safest delivery. I was never so scared in my whole life, but I knew what was on the way!! I felt everything, no pain, but it was so uncomfortable. At 1;34 pm Presley was born at 4lbs 11oz and Ella at 1:35 pm weighing 4lbs 6 oz. They brought Presley to me, it was so quick. Then I saw Ella and she was gone. I didn't get to see them again for some hours after the surgery. What a beautiful day...

My second baby shower

On January 31, 2010, I had my baby shower that my mom gave me at Bucca Di Beppo. It was such a wonderful turn out! I felt so blessed to have so many people there who care so much. I got so many needed things for my little angels!! I just remember feeling like any day now I would be having them. I had a tight stomach all day long and was so exhausted by the time it was over. It was so nice seeing Gordana and Brandy who are longest time friends!! :) What a beautiful day...

Week 33

It was a Monday evening, January 25, 2010. I fell asleep and woke up to a very sharp pain in my lower right abdomen. I moved, got up out of bed, but nothing was feeling better. I finally went downstairs and woke my mom up from the couch to tell her about my pain. I started to cry because it hurt really bad and I was scared something was wrong with the babies. I called my doctor to have one of them paged but my call was not returned in time so my brother called 911. I was taken to Palos Community Hospital. First ride in an ambulance and to the hospital! I was so scared and my body would not stop shaking. I was in premature labor and was given 3 rounds of shots to stop the contractions. It worked and by around 2 in the morning I was released. I was so glad because it was a little too soon for my little ladies to arrive and we were not even ready for them yet. I had one more baby shower to be present at!
